Board of Ethics
The Board of Ethics is an independent, citizen-appointed board that works to ensure honesty, openness, and integrity in city government through enforcing the city's ethical standards of conduct. The Board and its staff provide ethics training, give advice about the law, administer the financial disclosure program, accept complaints, conduct investigations, and bring enforcement actions.
Ethics Code The Code of Ethics is a conflict-of-interest law. The Board of Ethics has jurisdiction over gifts, use of city property, contract participation, outside employment, travel, and personal financial disclosure statements. Specifically, the Ethics Code covers the following subjects:

Elections
The Board of Ethics has limited jurisdiction over election-related issues based on the code provision that prohibits the use of public property for private advantage. It does not have jurisdiction over elections, campaign finance reports, or complaints related to campaign contributions, and the following information is provided as a public service.
