When is the next filing period?
The filing period for 2009 begins on January 15, 2009, and the filing deadline is Tuesday, February 17, 2009.
Where do I file?
All required filers must submit their statement online at the Electronic Disclosure System. The only exception to the electronic filing requirement applies to senior citizens.
Why didn't I get a copy in the mail this year?
Due to budget cutbacks, the Ethics Office mailed copies of the statement only to senior citizens who has requested an exemption from the electronic filing requirement.
I'm a city board member and older than 65. Do I have to file?
Yes. The only difference is that you may file a paper copy if you request an exemption from the electronic filing requirement.
How do senior citizens file?
Persons who are 65 years of age or older may hand deliver their statement or send it by first class mail to the Office of the Municipal Clerk, 55 Trinity Avenue, SW, Suite 2700, Atlanta, GA 30303.
I stopped serving in a city position last year. Why did you send me a statement?
The Code of Ethics requires individuals to file each year they serve in a city position and the year after they leave city service. The city's records show that you served after February 15, 2008, which is the cut-off date for service.
I have just been appointed to a city board. Am I required to file within 30 days?
The city has an annual filing requirement. City board members appointed in 2008 or January 2009 are required to file in 2009.
How do I file electronically?
You need to follow the login instructions included in the the mailing to your home or review the questions in the help sections in the Electronic Disclosure System.
Will I be fined if I am late?
The grace period for filing ends on March 1, 2009. All filers must pay a late filing fee if they file after that date without reasonable cause.
How can I efile if I don't have an email address?
Email addresses are not longer required to login.
Can I use my User ID and password that I used to file last year?
No. The system was redesigned for 2009, and the new system has a new login process that requires a new User ID and password.
What is my User Name or ID?
Your User Name, also called your User ID, was included in a letter mailed to your home or office on January 15, 2009.
