JUDGE CLINTON E. DEVEAUX
MUNICIPAL COURT OF ATLANTA
Judge Clinton E. Deveaux is Presiding Judge of the Community Court Division of the Municipal Court of Atlanta. He was appointed to this position by Chief Judge Deborah Greene in August 2004. He has been a municipal court judge since January 20, 1981, when he was appointed by then Mayor Maynard H. Jackson. He was re-elected to the court in 1985 and in each Atlanta election since.
Judge Deveaux serves on the visiting faculty of the Family Institute of New Jersey. He has made presentations and taught at:
- the National Judicial College from 1995 through 2000;
- the Georgia Institute for Continuing Judicial Education each year since 2001;
- Annual meetings of the American Bar Association;
- National Conferences of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy;
- the National Adolescent Drug Abuse and Mental Health Treatment Conference;
- the Eastern States Conference of the American Society for Adolescent Psychiatry;
- the Culture, Class, Race and Gender Conference of the Family Institute of New Jersey;
- the Texas Association for Marriage and Family therapy; and
- the South Carolina Cross-cultural Mental Health Conference.
Judge Deveaux is a former public member of the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education. He is active in the National Conference of Specialized Court Judges of the American Bar Association. He is immediate past Chair of the Board of Advisors of Columbia University’s National Center for Children in Poverty.
Judge Deveaux is married to pediatrician Dr. Merinda Herron and has one daughter, three stepsons and three grandchildren.
