Janice D. Davis was appointed Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the City of Atlanta in August 2004. As CFO, she is responsible for the financial well-being of the City of Atlanta. The CFO's duties include the effective management of the City’s financial resources, reporting to both the Executive and Legislative branches of the City’s government and managing the Finance Department of the City.
Within the Finance Department, she oversees the preparation and monitoring of the City’s annual budget, preparation of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR), cash investments, risk management, payroll and employee benefits, treasury and business license administration.
Ms. Davis has spent her entire career in government, most recently serving as the Director of Finance and Secretary of Financial Oversight for the City of Philadelphia. In addition, she has served as the Chief Financial Officer for the Dallas Independent School District, Director of Finance and Budget for Dallas Fort Worth International Airport and Deputy Director of Finance and Administration for the City of Houston. Janice began her career with the New Orleans school district and served for a time as the Utility Financial Administrator for the City of New Orleans’ Sewerage and Water Board.
Ms Davis is a native of New Orleans and received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of New Orleans. She is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Government Financial Manager.
Ms Davis currently serves on the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Government Finance Officers Association, and the Association of Government Accountants. Janice is a fellow with the Robert Wood Johnson Urban Health Initiative and has served on the Executive Board and as Assistant Treasurer of Girls, Inc (formerly Big Sisters of Philadelphia).
