Office of Parks
(March 1 through November 15)
The Office of Parks hires a number of seasonal workers to perform various duties during the busy warm weather months. These tasks primarily consist of, but are not limited to:
- Mowing, trimming and edging grass
- Picking up litter in the parks and emptying garbage cans
- Sweeping and blowing sidewalks and playing courts
- Cleaning pavilions
- Assisting forestry personnel (tree takedown and removal, tree trimming and stump grinding)
Seasonal jobs with the Office of Parks fall into three job classifications - seasonal maintenance worker, seasonal equipment operator and seasonal parks worker principal. All seasonal employees are expected to be available to work weekends, evenings and holidays, and should be aware that their work schedule is subject to change. Seasonal employees are paid at the rates listed below, and they earn time and a half pay for all work in excess of 40 hours per week. They do not, however, receive paid sick, vacation or holiday leave.
Seasonal maintenance worker - $8.50 per hour
Seasonal equipment operator - $9.50 per hour
Seasonal parks worker, principal - $14.05 per hour
Applicants for all seasonal positions must be at least 17 years old. Applicants for seasonal maintenance worker positions must possess, at minimum, a valid picture identification card. Applicants for equipment operator positions must possess a valid Georgia driver's license and must submit a copy of their motor vehicle (driving) record covering the past three years. All applicants must provide a background check.
