Judge Grants Motion to Quash Subpoenas for City Officials in Occupy Atlanta Case

Occupy Atlanta fails to prove relevance of city officials’ testimony

ATLANTA – Today the Honorable Crystal A. Gaines, Chief Judge of the Atlanta Municipal Court, granted the city’s motion to quash subpoenas to the Mayor and four other city officials in the case of City of Atlanta vs. Occupy Atlanta.

City Attorney Cathy Hampton said, “We are pleased with today’s order. Judge Gaines previously quashed a subpoena to the Mayor, finding the information sought irrelevant to Occupy Atlanta’s claims. Today’s order reaffirms the city’s position that the subpoenas had no legal basis and were issued in an attempt to embarrass and inconvenience city officials.”
