SSP America, Inc. Dismisses Airport Concessions Procurement Litigation

SSP admits that Hearing Officer found no evidence of wrongdoing

ATLANTA – SSP America, Inc., one of the losing bidders in the 2011 concessions procurement process at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, publicly announced it will cease its litigation against the City of Atlanta.

"I am pleased to announce the dismissal of various legal challenges made by SSP America, Inc. regarding the City's procurement process and those dedicated employees charged with the stewardship of that program," said City Attorney Cathy Hampton.

"SSP has now publicly acknowledged what we have known to be true all along:  No City elected official or employee acted improperly in connection with the food and beverage contracts awarded at Hartsfield-Jackson. We are happy to put this distraction behind us and look forward to improving and expanding Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and the Maynard H. Jackson Jr. International Terminal as a gateway to the world," said Mayor Kasim Reed.

SSP issued the following statement: "SSP believes that it submitted a high quality response to the Atlanta Airport Food and Beverage Concessions RFP in 2011.  While SSP challenged the results of the bidding, SSP acknowledges that the hearing officer determined there to be no evidence of any wrongful activity on the part of Mayor Kasim Reed, the Atlanta City Council or any city employees in the bidding process or the awards.  SSP will not receive any monetary damages or other compensation of any kind."
