City of Atlanta Department of Corrections Hosts Georgia Jail Association’s
Annual Winter Training Day
Free law enforcement training offers eight hours of P.O.S.T. credit
ATLANTA – The City of Atlanta Department of Corrections (DOC) announced today that it will host the Georgia Jail Association’s (GJA) annual Winter Training Day on February 8, 2107. The training will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Atlanta City Detention Center, located at 254 Peachtree St. S.W., Atlanta, Georgia 30303. The free training session offers eight hours of Peace Officers Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) credit and is open to all Georgia sworn and civilian law enforcement professionals.
“The Atlanta Department of Corrections prides itself on continuing education to ensure our staff is knowledgeable about the latest and greatest trends in our profession,” said Chief Patrick Labat, Atlanta Department of Corrections and President-Elect of the Georgia Jail Association. “Hosting the GJA Winter Training Day is a natural extension of our commitment to training, and we welcome our fellow officers from agencies across the state to join us for a dynamic day of learning, leadership and networking.”
GJA’s Winter Training Day includes modules on relevant jail topics, leadership, digital document management, accreditation, CIT (Crisis Intervention Training) and cell extractions. The Georgia Jail Association is an organization comprised of professionals from all levels of operations and related government agencies. Members share the common goal of improving all Georgia jails, regardless of facility size. The purpose of GJA is to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas, information and techniques, and to advance professionalism through training, technical assistance, publication and conferences.
