HAWK signals for Pedestrians
Posted Date: 8/16/2012

Over the last few weeks, Georgia Department of Transporttion and Georgia Tech have installed the first of two pedestrian hybrid beacons (HAWK signals) within the City of Atlanta at the following locations:

  • D.L. Hollowell Parkway (US 78/US 278/SR 8) at Ozburn Road [one block west of J. Jackson Parkway (SR 280)]
  • North Avenue (US 78/US 278/SR 8) between Techwood Drive and Tech Parkway

As many pedestrians and drivers may not have encountered these devices before, I thought it was important to forward the attached presentation and video link. Please review and forward to all interested parties. Let me know if you have any questions. These are likely the first of many pedestrian hybrid beacons to be installed within the city over the next several years. Watch video.
