Did You Know?
Atlanta could save nearly $400,000 over ten years if it replaced 1000 exit signs with ENERGY STAR qualified models.
Each year the City of Atlanta spends thousands of dollars on computers, office equipment and other energy using products. The Department of Procurement knows that getting the best deal on these purchases means looking beyond the price tag. When you are buying an energy-using product there are at least two parts to the cost:
1) The price of the product.
2) The price of the energy it uses.
The price tag, or the part you see up front, can be small. However the energy costs can be significant, sometimes several times the cost of the product itself.
As part of the Energy Conservation Program, the Department of Procurement has instituted an ENERGY STAR® energy efficient purchasing policy. By buying ENERGY STAR® products when they are available the City will save thousands of dollars a year on electricity. Keep an eye on this page to learn how much the City is saving through energy smart purchasing.
ENERGY STAR® is not just available to the City of Atlanta. By looking for the ENERGY STAR® label when you shop for new appliances, home office equipment, lighting or other products, you can save energy and money as well.
