MAYOR FRANKLIN JOINS IN GROUNDBREAKING
FOR GEORGIA AQUARIUM AND THE NEW
WORLD OF COCA-COLA

Mayor Shirley Franklin joined Bernie Marcus, chairman of the Marcus Foundation, Douglas Daft, chairman and CEO of the Coca-Cola Company, Governor Sonny Perdue and other dignitaries at the official groundbreaking for the Georgia Aquarium and the new World of Coca-Cola. The groundbreaking marked the first phase in the development of a 20 acre complex located just north of Centennial Olympic Park. The project, when completed, will create a major cultural, educational and entertainment destination for the people of Atlanta and visitors from around the world.

Mayor Franklin said, "This groundbreaking is the most important project for the revitalization of Downtown Atlanta. I look forward to working with the Coca-Cola Company and the Georgia Aquarium to make downtown Atlanta the most attractive tourist destination in America. " Below are photos from the groundbreaking:
