Today at 11:00am at the City Hall East Exhibition Center, Mayor Shirley Franklin will announce the public activities for the Atlanta Dream Jamboree.
Started in 1982, under the administration of Mayor Andrew Young, the Atlanta Dream Jamboree is the largest post-secondary career, training and college fair in the southern part of the United States. The brainchild of the late Jean Childs Young, this citywide initiative attracts over 200 college and university representatives from across the nation and has aided thousands of young people in successfully obtaining the financial resources to attend the college or university of their choice.
Now celebrating the 20th Anniversary of this event, Mayor Franklin will announce enhancements to the Dream Jamboree, which will incorporate the latest technological resources, thus introducing a broader array of post-secondary education and training opportunities to Atlanta students.
This year’s event, which is free and open to the public on Wednesday, April 24th from 7:00 – 9:00pm, will be the largest Dream Jamboree since its inception. There will be over 200 college and university representatives, workshops and information on obtaining financial aid and the HOPE scholarship, as well as paid internship opportunities.
