WHAT:

Kick-off of the 14th annual summer jobs and career development program between Colgate-Palmolive and the Mayor’s Youth Program- Preparing Our World through Education and Responsibility (P.O.W.E.R).  This year’s celebration will take place in April to assist Atlanta’s youth in getting a head start on job placement for the summer.

 

Mayor Franklin’s public education initiative for Atlanta Public High School (APS) seniors, The Mayor’s Youth Program will also be highlighted.  Through The Mayor’s Youth Program and AWDA, Atlanta high school seniors are encouraged to create a plan after graduation that matches his or her individual interests, whether it is college, the workforce, technical school or the military.

NOTES:

The Mayor’s Youth Program was founded by Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin. The program aims to provide support for high school seniors in the Atlanta Public Schools in their transition to the next phase of their lives.  The City of Atlanta has reached out to business and community leaders to get the resources seniors will need to reach their goals. Last year more than 720 Atlanta public school graduates were helped with tuition, laptops and other assistance through the Mayor’s Youth Program.
