The Atlanta Cyclorama and Civil War Museum Commemorates Black History Month

In recognition of Black History month, Company “K” of the 54th Massachusetts Infantry will host Cyclorama visitors during the weekend of February 2 – 3, 2008.  This Civil War reenactment group provides guests a living history on the life of a soldier.  The 54th Massachusetts was the African-American unit featured in the movie “Glory.”  The group includes descendents of soldiers that served with the 54th during the Civil War.

Also of interest, on Saturday morning February 2, 2008, the Cyclorama will host the Studebaker / Hudson Classic Car Club. On display will be some of the finest classic cars in Atlanta.

In 2008, The Atlanta Cyclorama celebrates its 110th year as a museum owned and operated by the City of Atlanta.  With a program that spans three centuries, the Cyclorama is the longest running show in the country.  Since 1898, the city has educated and entertained millions of visitors.  The 358’ x 42’ “Battle of Atlanta” painting is displayed in a theater-in-the-round setting.  As your seats rotate, history is told with music, sound effects and spectacular lighting.

Come and enjoy the Cyclorama located in Historic Grant Park next to Zoo Atlanta.  There are guided tours from 9:00AM to 4:30 PM daily. Admission is $7.00 for adults, $6.00 for military and seniors, $5.00 for children 6-12 and FREE for children under 6 years old.  Group rates are available and arrangements can be made for private receptions, lectures and meetings.
