Mayor Shirley Franklin Announces New Environmental Initiatives


WHO:

Mayor Shirley Franklin, Atlanta Recycles Day Honorary Co-chairs Jovita Moore, WSB newscaster, Jim Slater of the Atlanta Thrashers, and Laura Turner-Seydel, environmental advocate and Trustee of the Turner Foundation

 

WHAT:

Mayor Shirley Franklin will announce new City recycling initiatives at Atlanta Recycles Day, a community event featuring a 5k Mayor-thon ~ Race 2 Recycle, a one mile fun run/walk through the Peyton Forrest Community and a recycle and junk parade of costumes and instruments constructed from discarded materials.

 

                             

• 7:30 a.m. — Registration

• 8:00 a.m. — 5k Start

• 8:15 a.m. — 1 mile Fun Run

• 9:15 a.m. — Atlanta Recycles Day Program with Mayor Franklin

• 9:30 a.m. — Recycle and Junk Parade

• 10:00 a.m. — Family Fun Activities

 

WHEN:

November 17, 2007

Race Start—8:00 a.m.

Program—9:00 a.m.-9:45a.m.

NOTES:

Directions from Downtown Atlanta:

  • Take I-20 W, exit GA 280/Hamilton Holmes Dr., left at bottom of ramp
  • Cross MLK Drive and slight right at Peyton Rd. 

Ceremony to be held in parking lot of Peyton Place (turn right off of Peyton Rd.)
