Meeting to address many issues including infrastructure, energy efficiency, connecting youth to jobs and positive responses to immigration.
On Friday, January 25, 2008, at 2:00 pm, Mayor Franklin will participate in the Mayors Innovation Project Meeting at Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C.
Mayor Franklin will discuss the Mayor's Youth Program, a public private partnership that has served thousands of Atlanta students with educational opportunities, scholarships, employment training, and career assistance. At the meeting she will also have an opportunity to meet with mayors and senior staff from 40 cities around the country as well as national policy experts to learn about new ideas to address energy efficiency, disconnected youth and immigrant populations. Mayors at the meeting will represent almost twelve million people.
“Atlanta has made great progress implementing effective programs that ensure that young people have the best opportunity to succeed.” said Mayor Franklin, “Mutual support and sharing of best practices often lead to new and innovative solutions and I am anxious to learn how we can continue to improve and expand on what we’re doing in Atlanta.”

About the Meeting
The Mayor’s Innovation Project meeting will be held January 25th and 26th at Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C. In addition to Atlanta, attendees at this meeting will represents almost 12 million people from 40 geographically diverse cities such as Baltimore, Boston, Chapel Hill, Cincinnati, Denver, Dubuque, Gainesville, Madison, Milwaukee, and San Francisco.
