Water to be shut off in Buckhead for main repair project on Monday night

The Department will shut off water to Buckhead near Peachtree Creek Monday night so that crews can replace a section of a deteriorated 16-inch water main. Crews will replace 15 feet of the main, which was placed into service in 1917.

"This main has caused problems for residents in this community before," Commissioner Rob Hunter said. “We are asking our customers to be patient for a few more hours so that we can permanently remedy the situation.” The Department is replacing and repairing mains throughout the City as part of the $3.2 billion Clean Water Atlanta program designed to ensure clean, safe drinking water for present and future Atlantans and their downstream neighbors.

Water will be shut off from 8 p.m. to midnight Monday on Peachtree Road from Peachtree Hills to Park Drive and west from Colonial Homes Drive to Dellwood Road and from Dellwood Road to Redland Road.

Water service will be restored as soon as repairs are completed around midnight, and the area will be paved in time for morning traffic.
