The City of Atlanta, Atlanta Public Schools (APS) and Fulton County Schools (FCS) have been made aware that some newly annexed residents in Midwest Cascade and the Horseshoe Community were inaccurately informed that their children would be removed from FCS by the end of this week.
On September 29, 2006, the Atlanta City Council, in accordance with the process established by State of Georgia Law, adopted legislation to annex Midwest Cascade and the Horseshoe Community into the City of Atlanta. The legislation included a section that set the date of July 1, 2007 for the transfer of students from FCS to APS. The two school systems will design a seamless transition process with all affected families being fully informed in a timely manner. The City of Atlanta welcomes all of our new residents and we know that APS will provide an opportunity for every new student to be welcomed into their system as well.
