On Saturday, March 15, 2008, from 10 AM to 2 PM, the Mayor’s Office of Weed and Seed, the Atlanta Workforce Development Agency, the Atlanta Prosperity Campaign, the Center for Working Families, and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) are hosting a Super Saturday event at the City of Atlanta Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Center located at 818 Pollard Boulevard, Atlanta, GA, 30315.
This annual event provides free tax preparation and e-filing services by certified tax attorneys to low and moderate income workers making less than $39,000 per year as part of its Earned Income Tax Credit awareness campaign. The Earned Income Tax Credit is an under-utilized tax benefit that may assist low income workers enhance their financial stability. Those eligible may receive up to a $4,716 tax credit when filing a 2007 Federal return.
In addition to free tax preparation, financial institutions for onsite banking, credit counseling, and home ownership information will also be available. The following organizations will be in attendance: Best Bank, Bond Credit Union, and Regions Bank, Consumer Credit Counseling Service, Habitat for Humanity, Sullivan Center, Beehive, UCDC, Reynoldstown Revitalization Corporation, Georgia Dream, GSU Low Income Taxpayer Clinic, IRS (SPEC/Tax Payer Advocate), and Get Checking. In addition to these vendors, there will be free health screenings, mini job fair and mini college fair, as well as fun activities for the kids.
