Mayor Franklin Launches Re-designed Website for The City of Atlanta WWW.Atlantaga.gov
ATLANTA -- Mayor Shirley Franklin announced today the launch of the new City of Atlanta website, www.atlantaga.gov. Mayor Franklin said , "The website is a key component in building our e-government infrastructure. By maximizing the use of technology, City services and information are accessible to our residents 24-hours a day, 7 days a week." The site is designed so that the public can interface with city government from home, work, or any public space with internet access. By logging on to www.atlantaga.gov , one can find a wealth of current news and information about our city’s residents, businesses, events, transportation, parks, and other local government functions.
As part of Atlanta’s commitment to e-government, the Mayor has created several initiatives aimed at distributing information efficiently and cost-effectively. Mayor Franklin recently selected Abe Kani as the city’s first Chief Information Officer. In his previous position as the Chief Information Officer of Memphis, TN, he developed an e-business model to transform the city into a premier digital government.
The Department of Information Technology is working to align Atlanta's technology infrastructure with the business needs of city government, while providing the best possible value with available funding. Several exciting initiatives are in the works, which promise to transform Atlanta into an effective organization that leverages best-of-class solutions.
Some of the features of the re-designed website include:
