Mayor Franklin Selected

As One Of “America’s Best Leaders”

U.S. News & World Report today announced the launch of America’s Best Leaders,” the latest editorial edition to the magazine’s well-known “America’s Best” franchise. This special issue, to be featured annually, is on newsstands today and profiles the people considered to be the foremost leaders in the United States today.

The project was undertaken in collaboration with the Center for Public Leadership (CPL) at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, whose mission is to further leadership for the common good through excellence in leadership research, education, and development.

In a series of profiles and essays, “America’s Best Leaders” explores the critical elements of leading in the 21st century, while celebrating those individuals who are making a lasting impact. Convened and organized by CPL, a nonpartisan and independent selection committee chose the leaders based on leadership criteria. True to U.S. News’ objective selection methods, the judging and selection process was independent of U.S. News and based solely on the discussion and decisions of the expert selection committee.

“The committee sought out leaders who inspired a shared vision, challenged established processes, and achieved measurable results in their fields,” said David Gergen, U.S. News’ Editor-at-Large and Director of the Center for Public Leadership. “These are truly America’s best leaders.’”
