Citizens for Clean Water Donate to Care and Conserve Program

The Citizens for Clean Water are donating $52,034.88 to Care and Conserve, in the name of former mayors Andrew Young and Sam Massell. Approximately 173 families can receive the one-time cash assistance award because of this donation. The Citizens for Clean Water is a campaign committee created to advocate in favor the one-percent sales tax referendum on July 20, 2004 to repair and maintain our water and sewer system. The donated money is a surplus fund from the committee.

Commenting on the donation, Mayor Shirley Franklin said, “The City of Atlanta is committed to assist those most impacted by the rising water and sewer rates.” To date, 378 families have benefited from the programs assistance award toward plumbing problems and with the installation of water conservation devices.
