Public Officials Head to Atlanta to Discuss the Digital Divide and Wireless Technologies
Atlanta, Georgia. Mayor Shirley Franklin announced the City of Atlanta will host municipal officials from across the country in Atlanta, March 10-12, 2004 for the 4th Annual Community Technology Summit. Sponsored by the Mayor's Office of Community Technology under the direction of Dr. Jabari Simama, this year’s summit will address the topic “Wireless Opportunities for Municipal Government to Narrow the Digital Divide.”
Costis Toregas, President of Public Technology, Inc. in Washington, D.C., and an internationally-recognized leader known for strengthening local governments through the harnessing and effective use of technology, will deliver the keynote address. Top industry and government leaders will discuss national best practices. This event will take place at the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center.
As a part of this conference, Mayor Franklin is inaugurating the 1st Youth Technology Fair and Exhibition. Original projects created by Atlanta youth will be judged by technology experts on creativity and innovation. Technology prizes and awards will be presented to the finalists during the 4th Annual Technology Summit. CH2M HILL, an engineering and construction firm, is a major sponsor of this initiative, along with Cisco Systems, Intel, AirTran Airways, and Delta Airlines.
