Workshop for Developers Focuses on Development Opportunities in Atlanta Region

The City of Atlanta’s Bureau of Buildings is committed to “permitting Atlanta’s growth.”  On Tuesday, April 25, 2006 from 7:30 am to 9:00 am at the 191 Club in Atlanta, the Bureau of Buildings is co-hosting a Developers Day event that will highlight the region’s growth and development opportunities in Atlanta.  The Developer’s Day Workshop is an opportunity for developers and builders to get first hand information and updates on the industry from City officials.

The metro Atlanta region will grow by 2.3 million in the next 25 years and accounts for approximately 80 percent of the state’s growth.  The City of Atlanta’s population is expected to increase 40-percent or 163,000 by the year 2030.  Where are the development opportunities in Atlanta?  And what kind of development is needed to accommodate Atlanta’s growth?  Join us on April 25 at the 191 Club in Atlanta for the answers.

Greg Giornelli, president of the Atlanta Development Authority (ADA), is the keynote speaker for the event.  Mr. Giornelli will address our region and the City’s growth and development potential.  ADA is co-hosting the event, which also features a breakout session on development incentives such as Urban Enterprise Zones, Renewal Community Credits, Brownfield Credits and Grants and more.

In 2005, the Bureau of Buildings processed over 42,000 permits, with an estimated cost of construction of nearly $3 billion dollars.  Reducing the number of days it takes to receive an approved permit is a top priority for the City of Atlanta.  We are working to make the permitting process more convenient and efficient through the use of new technology, advanced training of staff and the addition of new supervisory personnel.
