Fairburn Road main repaired,
boil-water advisory lifted

August 10, 2005 – Repairs are completed on the 30-inch water main that broke Monday, disrupting service to some 400 customers in the Fairburn Road area of Southwest Atlanta. Service to the area was restored before 7 a.m. this morning. The boil-water advisory, issued when pressure dropped as a result of the main break, was lifted at 9:35 p.m. last night when the final test results showed no contamination. Repairs to the bridge over Utoy Creek just north of the intersection of Cascade and Fairburn roads will begin today. The road is closed until City and Georgia Department of Transportation officials determine whether it is safe for one-lane traffic.
