The City of Atlanta's staff was well prepared and responded quickly to the effects of Hurricane Dennis. We have experienced significant flooding, following more than five inches of rain since 8:00 am Sunday morning, and strong winds.
Over the last 24 hours, 57 lights were reported out, 25 trees have fallen and Emergency Service Personnel have responded to 103 emergency management calls.
City agencies continue to repair 20 remaining malfunctioning traffic signals, remove down trees and respond to emergency calls as the final rain bands of Dennis move Northwest of Atlanta.
“Ensuring the safety and security of our residents is a goal of the City of Atlanta,” stated Mayor Franklin. “The partnership between our departments during the inclement weather associated with Hurricane Dennis affirms how effectively our city government runs in times of crisis.”
Constituent Services from the Mayor's Office, Fire Rescue, Parks and Recreation, Police, Public Works and Watershed Management Departments were all actively engaged in this great team effort.
