City of Atlanta Launches “Integrity Matters” Program

Integrity matters at the City of Atlanta. This is the message behind the City’s expanded ethics program launched by Mayor Shirley Franklin on April 17, 2006.

As part of the “Integrity Matters” program, the City announced the availability of an expanded hotline that allows employees and the general public to report unethical or illegal activity on the part of City employees. The program reflects the City’s commitment to operating with values and high ethical standards, and encourages everyone to make integrity a priority.

You can call the toll-free hotline, 1.800.884.0911, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. A professional interviewer from The Network, an independent company that provides hotline services worldwide, will document your concerns in detail and relay the information to the appropriate City department for follow up and investigation. Anonymous callers can call back to check on the status of their report or to provide additional information.

“We want employees and residents to do right and speak up when they see City employees doing wrong,” said Ethics Officer Ginny Looney.  “To instill a culture of strong ethics in City Hall, we need a strong enforcement program, which we believe the hotline and new staff investigator will provide.”
