Beginning today, the Atlanta Police Department will start serving warrants on defendants who have outstanding cases that were filed in the former City Court of Atlanta (Traffic Court).
This summer, in order to establish a more efficient and effective court system, the Traffic Court was abolished. All cases formerly filed in that court have been transferred to the Atlanta Municipal Court.
Former Traffic Court defendants, who have failed to appear for a hearing or have failed to pay their fine in full, must contact the Atlanta Municipal Court in person immediately. Failure to contact the Court will lead to arrest and detainment in the Atlanta Pretrial Detention Center.
