Pryor Street Reopens to Traffic after 5-month construction closure

This week, The City of Atlanta Department of Public Works reopened the section of Pryor Street from Garnett Street to Memorial Drive, which has been closed since March 2004 to allow for the construction of an under-street passageway for use by the courts. Public Works officials announced the above-ground work has been completed and detour signs have been removed.

"We are pleased to return this section of road to public use," said Public Works Commissioner David Scott. "We are continuing with the construction work on the underground portions of this project." The tunnel is expected to be completed later this year.

Public Works Technicians perform the finishing concrete work.
