Atlanta awaits the return of a familiar friend:
The Athens 2004 Olympic Torch Relay Route Released to Public

The wait is almost over and the Olympic Torch will once again grace the streets of Atlanta this Friday, June 18th.  Atlanta is one of 34 cities worldwide and four cities in the United States participating in this historic journey with a final destination of Athens, Greece for the 2004 Olympics.

Commenting on the upcoming event, Mayor Franklin said,  “The torch holds a special place in the memory of Atlanta, it re-ignites the spirit of camaraderie that is such an important part of our city. I encourage people to pause for a moment on Friday and enjoy the many activities surrounding the Torch Relay, concluding with our City Celebration in Centennial Olympic Park beginning at 6:00 p.m.”
