Mayor Shirley Franklin met with Governor-elect Sonny Perdue today at his Atlanta transition office to discuss regional issues including expansion of Hartsfield Airport and the City’s Clean Water Atlanta plan. Said Mayor Franklin, “I found Governor-elect Perdue attentive and actively engaged in our presentations, and am optimistic that we will be able to work together for the good of Atlanta and the whole of Georgia”.
This meeting was a follow-up to the courtesy meeting that occurred shortly after Governor-elect Perdue’s election when he came to City Hall to ask for Mayor Franklin’s advice on transition plans and inaugural planning.
Commenting again on the meeting, Mayor Franklin said, “My team and I stand ready as a resource for the new Governor as he decides how he wants to move forward. To succeed, Atlanta and the State of Georgia simply must work together, and I am committed to doing our part.”
