Public Meeting Notice:  Final Input Needed for City’s Cultural Plan

Artists and residents will have one final opportunity to provide input towards the Community Cultural Plan, a long-range initiative to further infuse arts and culture throughout the City of Atlanta.  Two separate meetings for artists and the general public will be led by Community Cultural Plan consultant Arthur Greenberg, Director of AMS Planning & Research, a nationally recognized consulting firm for the arts.

“The ideas and opinions shared at the meetings will help us ensure that the plan addresses community interests, a critical factor in moving forward and adapting the arts to a shifting culture and economy,” said Greenberg.

ABOUT THE COMMUNITY CULTURAL PLAN

Unveiled in 2005 by the City of Atlanta’s Office of Cultural Affairs, the Plan involves a public process of the future development of arts, cultural programs and resources in the city.  Many of the Plan’s recommendations relate directly to the City’s overall municipal goals such a housing, public safety and job creation.  Specific recommendations in the Plan address arts learning, cultural participation, community development, cultural investment as well as enabling and supporting individual artists. To date, approximately 1500 artists, community, civic and arts leaders along with the general public have provided extensive input through meetings, surveys and interviews
