Atlanta, May 10, 2002. Mayor Shirley Franklin released the following statement on the status of the search process for her top cabinet positions:
“Throughout the campaign and during the first 100 days, I expressed my feelings that it was imperative that we use professional search firms for these critical cabinet positions. My commitment included a GBI screening of the finalists and reference checks. We are still involved in that process...in all positions - Police Chief, COO, CFO and the City Attorney. While I am anxious to appoint the top cabinet members, I feel it is equally as important to complete this thoughtful and thorough review of each and every candidate. At this critical point and time in Atlanta's history we need the best management team possible. Don't expect this process to be completed for at least another week.”
