(Atlanta, GA) March 12- In response to the level of public questions about the integrity of the day-to-day operation of city government, Mayor Franklin signed an administrative order on yesterday, implementing a strict ethics policy for all employees who are under the supervision and direction of the Mayor. The administrative order covers all city employees except those under City Council and in judicial agencies.
The administrative order encompasses various components of the ethics legislation that has been proposed to the City Council and provides for mandatory ethics training for the leadership of city government, including all officials and employees at the level of bureau head, office director, and above. The administrative order further establishes an ethics hotline that will allow city employees a direct line to the Interim Ethics Officer, to report any ethics violations. The administrative order will stay in enforcement until the City Council passes the pending ethics legislation.
“Over the course of the last 2 months, I have heard from numerous city employees about their concern as it relates to perceived unethical conduct, thus I am hopeful that the employees will welcome this change,” states Mayor Franklin.
