Mayor Shirley Franklin, City Council President Cathy Woolard and the All Women's House Build Team

WHO: Mayor Shirley Franklin, City Council President Cathy Woolard and the All Women's House Build Team
WHEN: Saturday, September 13, 2003
Program begins at 8:00 a.m., doors open at 7:30 a.m. for set-up
WHERE: Atlanta Habitat for Humanity Warehouse
500 Woodward Ave, Atlanta
WHY:

Atlanta Habitat is the City’s largest developer of truly affordable housing. Normally housed are sponsored by corporations, faith-based organizations or civic organizations. This build however is very different because it is a grass-roots effort by private individuals - all women - who raised the funds to sponsor the build and are contributing more than 200 volunteers - again, all women - who will actually build the home.

Mayor Franklin says, "Atlanta is a wonderfully diverse city, and a key to keeping it that way is the availability of affordable housing. My administration is firmly committed to insuring that Atlanta remains affordable for all who want to live here. I commend Atlanta Habitat for Humanity and in particular the women who have commited to build this house for making a difference in the future of our city."
