"BRING ONE FOR THE CHIPPER 2004"
CHRISTMAS TREE RECYCLING EVENT


WHAT:

Area residents will drop off Christmas trees that will be chipped into mulch or used as a wildlife habitat. The event educates the public on recycling and environmental conservation. It also allows communities to put discarded Christmas trees to good use. The program assists local governments in complying with Georgia’s yard trimmings ban implemented in September 1996. The ban prohibits the disposal of yard trimmings in municipal solid waste landfills.

WHEN:

Saturday, January 3, 2004, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

WHERE:

Residents can drop off their Christmas trees at one of more than 350 sites statewide including the following local collection sites:

The Home Depot Store- 650 Ponce De Leon Avenue, NE
The Home Depot Store- 850 Sidney Marcus Boulevard, NE

   
REWARD:

A free dogwood seedling in exchange for each tree recycled, while supplies last.

ALTERNATIVE TREE RECYCLING OPTIONS

If you are unable to participate in the "Bring One for the Chipper" Event the City of Atlanta offers residents another option to recycle their live Christmas trees after the holidays. Just place your Christmas tree at the curb, to be collected and recycled into mulch through the City’s Yard Trimming Composting Program.
