Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms Returns to Her Alma Mater to Deliver 2018 Homecoming Convocation Address

ATLANTA – Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms delivered the keynote address during the 2018 Homecoming Convocation at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU). The convocation was held this morning at 10:10 a.m., in the university’s Alfred Lawson Jr. Multipurpose Center and Teaching Gymnasium, located at 1800 Wahnish Way.

The free, annual event included performances by the famed Marching “100” and the FAMU cheerleaders, along with presentations by students and returning alumni.

A proud graduate of FAMU, Mayor Bottoms returned to her alma mater to inspire current students to use education as a tool to change the world. She also encouraged other alumni to financially support the historic institution.

Founded in 1887, FAMU, a historically black four-year university, is located on the highest geographic hill in Tallahassee. This premier center for higher learning has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the nation’s “Best National Universities” and as one of the “Top Public Historically Black College or Universities” in the nation.
