Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms Hosts Affordable Housing Panel at 87th US Conference of Mayors Winter Meeting

ATLANTA— Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, Chair of the Community Development and Housing Committee, hosts Local Solutions to Housing Challenges, a candid conversation focusing on the critical issue of affordable housing at the 87th US Conference of Mayors winter meeting in Washington, DC. Hundreds of Mayors from cities across the nation convened to discuss topics ranging from economic inclusion to equitable practices as the state of cities continues to evolve.

"Affordability and economic inclusion are among the greatest challenges faced by cities across the world,” said Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms. “The strategies and solutions outlined during today's discussion will help serve as a guideline for cities to create an adequate, sustainable inventory of affordable housing for years to come."

Mayor Bottoms was joined by a diverse group of elected officials, business and community leaders including Mayor LaToya Cantrell of New Orleans, Mayor Lily Mei of Freemont, Mayor Jacob Frey of Minneapolis, Robert Pinnegar, Chief Executive Officer of the National Apartment Association, Todd Johnson, Divisional Retail Sales Manager, Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, and Milton R. Pratt Jt. Senior Vice President of Michaels Development. 

As Chair of the Community Development and Housing Committee of the U.S. Conference of Mayors, Mayor Bottoms has continued to focus on equitable solutions that protect Atlanta residents and communities regarding affordable housing. Aiming to not only help Atlanta become more resilient, Mayor Bottoms’ approach to affordable housing has become a national model for other cities. Led by the US Conference of Mayors President, Columbia, South Carolina Mayor Steve Benjamin, the three-day conference will run from January 23rd to January 25th in Washington, DC.
