Influential Community Groups Stand Opposed to Proposed State Takeover of Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport

ATLANTA—Three of metro Atlanta’s largest community groups today opposed Senate Bill 131—the proposed State takeover of Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

Jointly signed by the Georgia Coalition for the People's Agenda, the Atlanta Chapter of the NAACP and the Urban League of Greater Atlanta, the letter reads in part:

ATL is an industry leader with iconic airline partners who have made long-term commitments to its success and to the well-being of our communities.

It has set benchmarks for operational efficiency and minority-and-small business hiring that have inspired the growth of Metro Atlanta’s progressive business community, enhanced our status as a world-class transportation hub, and built Georgia’s economy into a national power.

A copy of the full letter is attached and can be found online here.
