City of Atlanta Announces Summer Food Program

WHO:

The Mayor’s Office of Human Services
Bright from the Start: Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning 

WHAT:

The City of Atlanta announces the launch of the annual Summer Food Program. This is a partnership between the Mayor’s Office of Human Services and Bright from the Start: Georgia’s Department of Early Care and Learning. The program ensures that underserved children 18 years of age and younger in Atlanta continue to receive nutritious meals when school is not in session. The City of Atlanta Summer Food Program also has a Mobile Feeding component dedicated to reaching children throughout the city who do not have access to transportation. 

Each summer, the program serves an average of 222,837 meals totaling approximately 8,136 breakfast and lunch meals per day.

WHEN:

The program begins June 3rd, 2019 and will end August 2nd, 2019.

WHERE:

Meals are provided to local churches, recreation centers, camps and non-profit organizations citywide.  

 The Mobile Food Bus is scheduled to stop at the following locations weekly:

Columbia At South River Gardens Apartments
Constitution Apartments
Columbia at Mechanicsville Apartments
Columbia At Sylvan Hills Apartments
Edgewood Courts Apartments
West Highlands Apartments 

Cleveland Avenue Branch Library
East Atlanta Branch Library
Louise Watley Library at Southeast
Northwest Branch at Scotts Crossing Library
