Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms’ Premium Pay Legislation Receives Support from Finance and Executive Committee

ATLANTA – Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms put forth legislation to ensure the City’s frontline and essential workers continue to get compensated for the work they do. The Premium Pay legislation will apply approximately $500 a month extra to those critical infrastructure workers.

This payment is made possible under Biden Administration’s American Rescue Plan, which authorizes the expense. The legislation was adopted by the Finance and Executive Committee and is expected to be adopted by the full City Council on Monday, October 4, 2021.

“Our Administration appreciates the continued hard work and support of our frontline employees,” said Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms. “This legislation is an example of equity in action. It is an important additional step to ensure Atlanta remains competitive and retains talent in key areas, providing City services.”

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Bottoms’ Administration has worked with employees, unions, and City Council to identify and adopt measures to provide incentives and pay increases with the goal of improving the safety and services to our communities.  The payments will remain in effect through the end of the fiscal year on June 30, 2022.
