The department has mobilized extensive resources for winter weather response, including:

  • Brine Trucks
  • Brine Stations
  • Spreaders
  • Seasonal Brine & Spreader Rentals
  • 20,000 Gallons of Brine (with additional production capacity)

Department of Watershed Management

Adverse weather may affect the City's water mains, which may break more frequently during colder months due to underground conditions. The Department of Watershed Management reminds all residents to take steps to protect your home and address water issues during freezing temperatures:

  • Wrap exposed outdoor water pipes to prevent freezing and potential breaks.
  • Let faucets drip slowly during extreme cold to avoid frozen pipes.
  • Drain in-ground sprinkler systems and cover aboveground pipes.
  • Protect tender plants from the cold by covering them.
  • Locate your home’s water shut-off valve in case of emergency.
  • If you observe water running from streets or sidewalks, notify ATL 311 immediately at 404-546-0311.
