City of Atlanta Winter Weather Updates
ATLANTA— The City of Atlanta continues to closely monitor the ongoing winter weather conditions and remains committed to ensuring the safety of its residents.
Your safety is our priority - please avoid driving and allow crews to treat the roads. Please stay inside and use extra caution if you must travel. Due to the freezing temperatures, some backroads are not clear.
Atlanta Department of Transportation (ATLDOT)
- ATLDOT has pretreated all priority roads to help mitigate the impact of winter conditions.
- The department advises residents to stay off the roads if possible to prevent accidents and facilitate ongoing snow removal efforts.
Precautionary Measures:
- Do not travel unless absolutely necessary.
- If you must travel, exercise extreme caution.
- Ensure your vehicle has an extra flashlight, food, and water in case of emergency.

Warming Centers are Open
Warming centers are open continuously through Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at 3:00 p.m.
Locations:
- Central Park Recreation Center– 400 Merritts Ave. NE, Atlanta, GA 30308
- Selena S. Butler Park – 98 WM Holmes Borders Dr SE, Atlanta, GA 30312 (Women and children only)
- Old Adamsville Recreation Center– 3404 Delmar Ln NW, Atlanta, GA 30331 (Overflow location)
Activation times are subject to change based on updated forecasts from the National Weather Service.
City of Atlanta Offices and Facility Closures
- All City of Atlanta government offices, including Municipal Courts, will be closed on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. Employees will be working virtually to continue essential services.
- All afterschool programming is canceled, along with recreation centers and golf courses.
- Any City of Atlanta-sanctioned events for the day will be cancelled.
Department of Public Works (DPW) Updates
- Due to weather conditions, DPW is suspending all garbage, recycling, yard debris, and bulk collections on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.
