WHAT:

The Mayor’s Office of International and Immigrant Affairs in collaboration with the Mayor's Office of Cultural Affairs and Goethe Zentrum are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the premiere of the Nigerian-German movie THINGS FALL APART in Atlanta through an exhibition titled THINGS FALL APART - Film Stills by Stephen Goldblatt at Gallery 72.
The premiere of the pre-Nollywood movie THINGS FALL APART in Atlanta draws direct connections to the historic election of Maynard Jackson as Atlanta’s first Black mayor as the Nigerian co-producer, legendary film maker Francis Oladale, was his brother-in-law.
The premiere was directly connected to the founding of the Mayor’s Office for Cultural Affairs and the establishment of the Atlanta/Lago sister city partnership, which both celebrated their 50th anniversary just recently.
Media required to RSVP to atlmedia@atlantaga.gov.
