Statement on Passing of U.S. Congressman Sylvester Turner

ATLANTA—Mayor Andre Dickens issued the following statement.

“I am deeply saddened by the passing of former Houston Mayor and current Congressman Sylvester Turner. As a dedicated public servant and compassionate leader, Mayor Turner championed initiatives that have left a lasting impact on Houston and serve as an inspiration to leaders like myself. 

“His efforts demonstrated his unwavering commitment to his community.

“Beyond his professional achievements, Mayor Turner was a warm and humble individual. He welcomed me into the mayoral community with kindness, offering invaluable guidance and support. His legacy of service, resilience and dedication to public welfare will continue to inspire us all. My thoughts and prayers are with his constituents, family, friends and all who were fortunate to know him and his service to our country.”
