NOTICE OF PROPERTY TAX HEARING FOR FISCAL YEAR 2026

ATLANTA – May 14, 2025 - The City of Atlanta has announced its proposed Fiscal Year 2026 millage rate strategy as part of a comprehensive $3.0 billion operation budget.  This approach is designed to provide meaningful property tax relief, reduce debt obligations, and strengthen the city's long-term financial position.

The proposal represents a modest net decrease in the total millage rate of 11.40 mills to 11.37 mills while realigning a broader fiscal strategy that includes significant investments in public safety, affordable housing, and infrastructure improvements.

Under the proposal, the city plans to reallocate bond levy savings to the Maintenance & Operations (M&O) millage rate. This shift allows property tax exemptions to apply to a larger portion of the tax bill, directly benefiting homeowners. By optimizing general obligation debt and reallocating bond levy savings, the city aims to deliver meaningful tax relief to residents, reduce overall debt, and enhance its credit standing.

All interested citizens are encouraged to attend and to submit comments.  A copy of this information, the millage rates, and additional background materials are available for public inspection upon request via e-mail: municipalclerk@atlantaga.gov
