Mayor Andre Dickens, City leaders and community leaders unveil the Administration’s Neighborhood Reinvestment Initiative, a sweeping framework and agenda for deep investments in Atlanta’s historically underserved communities.
For decades, social and economic inequalities in some communities—many on the South and West sides of Atlanta—have resulted in high poverty rates, poor health, low graduation rates and lack of work readiness. Also, lack of investment in these areas has led to considerably less access to quality jobs, fresh food and even manageable commutes.
The ambitious initiative doubles down on almost four years’ worth of investments made by the Dickens Administration that have lowered crime, made historic investments in Atlanta’s youth and pushed the Administration’s ambitious goal of 20,000 units of affordable housing by 2030 past the halfway point.
