Atlanta Police Meet With International Leaders To Share Best Practicies On Arrest Procedures, Citizen Rights

The Atlanta Police Department met with emerging foreign leaders from the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program.  Six visitors from Afghanistan, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka met with the Atlanta Police Department and other city officials to learn more about Atlanta’s arrest procedures.

Major Vincent Moore provided information on Atlanta Police procedures from arrest to arraignment.  Officials from the Fulton County Jail, Atlanta City Detention Center and the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office also attended the meeting and discussed their protocols with particular emphasis on citizen’s rights and how they work in partnership with the Atlanta Police Department.

The Atlanta Police Department regularly partners with the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program to help build understanding and cooperation between our nation and other countries.  Visitors are selected by the U.S. embassy staff abroad to participate in the International Visitor Program to exchange ideas with U.S. counterparts.
