Atlanta Police Department To Sponsor Youth Events For Spring Break
The Atlanta Police Department School Detectives Section is offering all Atlanta Public middle and high school students a fun and free activity during Spring Break.
The Larry Bacon Annual Basketball Bash starts Monday, April 7. The week-long program features basketball clinics, cheerleading lessons, free lunch and daily prizes. The two locations will be the Coretta Scott King Young Women's Leadership Academy and Benjamin Elijah Mays High School. Named after deceased Atlanta Police Investigator Larry Bacon, the event was created to build character, life-skills and prevent Atlanta youth from crime while out of school during the Spring Break holiday.
“Investigator Bacon spent his entire career as a School Resource Officer encouraging Atlanta students to make positive choices,” said Chief George N. Turner. “The Larry Bacon Annual Basketball Bash is a great event to keep our kids involved and motivated.”
The School Detectives Section will also honor the life of Investigator Bacon during a special tribute. Event sponsors include V103, Pepsi, Gatorade, Ice Box, Patchwerk Recording Studios, Paulsen Foods, Flowers Foods, and Atlanta Public Schools.
For more information, contact the APD School Detectives Section at 404-802-2000.
