Atlanta Police Department Recognizes National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day
Atlanta Police Department Deputy Chief Joseph Spillane will speak at this year’s National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day ceremony on Wednesday, May 14 at 9 am. The event is hosted by Central Atlanta Progress and the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District, partnering with the Atlanta Bar Association and the Atlanta Bar Foundation, and will be held at Woodruff Park near the Police Memorial.
“National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day is an annual event where the Atlanta Police Department honors fallen officers, their families and current staff for selflessly serving our city,” said Police Chief George N. Turner.
The Interagency Law Enforcement (ILE) is an important group comprised of more than 11 public safety agencies that meet monthly on how best to protect the Downtown area. During National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, ILE members and the Downtown community will pay tribute to public safety agencies with a ceremony and memorial service. Also speaking at the event are Commissioner of Public Safety, Colonel Mark McDonough and Sally Yates, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia. The event is open to the public and media is invited to attend.
